Unknown to most of us, sulfur is one of the
basic elements of life. In fact, sulfur is the fourth most
abundant mineral in the body. The proper acid alkaline balance of
the body cannot be maintained without it. MSM supplements can lower your pain levels by 50% or more,
MSM supplements has the ability to reduce inflammation. Sulfur is vital to the
creation and regeneration of the body's tissues. Sulfur is an
indispensable component in human nutrition. MSM is found in every
cell in the body. Sulfur itself is held mainly in the muscles,
skin, bones, nails and hair. MSM dietary supplements provide the essential sulfur
necessary for a number of body compounds. Veterinarians became
interested in MSM dietary supplements and found that it worked on pets suffering from
arthritis and lameness. When people saw the effect it had on
their pets they began to buy MSM dietary supplements for themselves.
MSM is found in raw fruits, vegetables, nuts, and seeds. MSM is sulfur and sulfur is found in eggs, cheese, and meats. A deficiency in sulfur may cause slow growth or fatigue.
Dr. Stanley Jacobs, M.D. Director
of the DMSO Clinic and Professor of Surgery at Oregon Health
Sciences University, has conducted clinical studies on MSM dietary
supplements and
used it with his patients for over 20 years and has
documented his findings in the book entitled "The Miracle of
MSM". In the book Dr. Stanley Jacobs
lists MSM's most significant actions to be: an analgesic (pain
controller), MSM supplements aid in the relief of inflammation, MSM passes through cellular
membranes of the body, including the skin, MSM dilates blood
vessels and increases blood flow, MSM blocks the action of
cholinesterase, thereby helping to restore normal bowel activity,
MSM dietary supplements reduce muscle spasms, MSM alters the cross linking process in
collagen, therefore reducing scar tissue, MSM has anti parasitic
properties (particularly for giardia), and MSM has an immune
normalizing effect, as observed in some autoimmune diseases such
as rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, and scleroderma. One of the
essential components in all life forms, sulfur is involved in
amino acid production, connective tissue, skin, hair, nails, (in
animals, hide and hooves), enzymes, hormones, and immunoglobulins.
Dr. Jacobs lists
the following as the most frequent applications of degenerative wear-and-tear arthritis Rheumatoid arthritis, Chronic
back pain, Chronic headaches, Muscle pain,
Fibromyalgia, Tendonitis and bursitis, Carpal Tunnel
Syndrome, TMJ problems, Post-traumatic pain and inflammation,
and Heartburn.
Sulfur and Allergies
Over 40 million people in the U.S. alone
suffer from allergies. An allergic response occurs when the
body's immune system reacts to otherwise harmless substances we
call allergens. Your body produces antibodies to fight the
allergens. These antibodies then attach themselves to special
cells in the respiratory and gastrointestinal tracts where they
eventually explode, releasing chemicals including histamine, a
powerful compound that actually causes allergic symptoms. Once our
immune system decides that a particular type of pollen is a
hostile invader, it becomes sensitized to it and can react with
allergy symptoms for years, and perhaps a lifetime.
Allergy drugs only suppress symptoms rather than treating the
cause of the allergy and often result in uncomfortable side
effects. Dust, pollen, mold or animal dander in the air
results in sneezing, runny nose, tearing eyes, sore throat, ear
infection, stomach cramps, itchy skin, hives, headaches, urinary
frequency, stuffiness, fatigue, diarrhea, and possibly asthma.
Allergy symptoms are your body's reaction to something foreign in
your system. Symptoms are caused by an antibody called
immunoglobulin E, or IgE, a protein that the body produces to
fight the foreign substance. If your body is sulfur deficient, the
cell walls become hard and stiff, hindering the flow of fluid
through the cell walls.
Higher doses
are typically necessary to experience therapeutic effects. A
person suffering multiple allergic symptoms during pollen season
may require more than 8 grams of MSM per day.

We use OptiMSM in all our MSM
products.

MSM Capsules:
It is recommended as a dietary supplement that you start out by
taking 2-3 capsules of msm dietary supplements - 1000 mg. a day the first week. Then the next
week take up to 3-6 1000 mg. capsules per day. The optimum effective
dosage would depend on the body size, age, the MSM blood level prior
to administration, and the nature and severity of the condition you
are treating. Experiment with it to see what works best for you. MSM
dietary supplement capsules are better utilized in the body than tablets.
MSM capsules are made from crystal-flakes.
MSM Powder
or MSM Crystals:
MSM powder or crystal-flake form take at least one full scoop (10 grams) per day (remember
one
level teaspoon of MSM equals 5 grams and one tablespoon = 10 grams). For best results build up to
at least 20 grams (two full scoops) of MSM a day. MSM supplements
have a bitter taste to it so I dissolve mine in warm water and chase it down with another drink.
Or mix it in a small glass of chocolate milk to disguise the bitter taste. Studies show that MSM
(sulfur) declines with age, so you would want to boost your msm
dietary supplementation as you get older. Remember 1
tablespoon = 15 grams or 15,000 mg and one teaspoon = 5 grams or
5,000 mg.
MSM Side
Effects:
Your hair and nails will grow and it will increase your energy
level.
MSM (methylsulfonylmethane) has been shown
to be equally effective in clinical studies as anti-flammatory
drugs, without the adverse side effects!
Pure MSM dietary supplements
can
easily be tested at home by pouring a little MSM powder or
msm crystals into a glass of warm water. If you have MSM
capsules just break one open and pour it into a glass of water. If the MSM dietary supplement falls to the bottom and does not float on top
of the water, then you have pure MSM supplements. Fillers in MSM will stay on
top of the water. When buying MSM supplements be sure and look for
the OptiMSM logo on each label. You will not find any additives,
fillers, binding agents, or anything else in our product. Our
products all have the OptiMSM logo manufactured from Cardinal
Manufacturer, patented by Robert Herschler and exclusively used by Dr.
Stanley Jacob, M.D., author of The Miracle of MSM. OptiMSM is
always guaranteed to be 99.9% pure methylsulfonylmethane. There are
a lot of manufacturers who claim to sell pure MSM dietary supplements when indeed they
do
not. So be sure and check your labels yourself. Remember look for
the OptiMSM logo. Be careful of MSM dietary supplement products made in India or
China. Dietary supplements and herbs imported from China and India
have a poor track record on quality. Ask for a certificate of
analysis and check the melting point of the msm. A recent review in
Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutics documents numerous
reports of mislabeling and contamination, and deliberate
adulteration of Chinese dietary supplements. Lead
contamination is of particular concern. Also the water conditions
in other foreign countries are of poor quality. Only the
United States has the better capabilities of making pure MSM
supplements because of our water control and its controlled purity form. MSM
sulfur supplements are known by many names including such
misspellings as surfor and sulfor. The correct spelling is
sulfur.
Hint: For extra relief from aches and pains try
making your own MSM bath salt. Mix 1 cup of crystals and 1 cup
of Epson salt together in a hot tub of water and relax. You can use
msm powder if you do not have msm crystal flakes. Remember
inside each jar of powder or crystal-flakes is a scoop.
If you fill
the scoop up half way that is one teaspoon.
If you fill
the scoop up to the top that is one tablespoon
