There has been a huge request for information on Glucosamine and the two types of MSM. So here is some glucosamine and msm information you may find helpful. We do not sell glucosamine for it comes from China and India and is contaminated with dirty water.
Glucosamine
If you are allergic to Shellfish, read this article.
Glucosamine is a dietary supplement used by millions of people to help with the relief of joint pain. Current production of glucosamine is derived from shellfish, which can cause an allergic reaction in some people. Glucosamine and OptiMSM seem to be the most widely used natural supplements for seeking pain relief from inflammation, arthritis and tissue repair. Numerous studies have been done to examine the potential benefits of this supplement for osteoarthritis sufferers and people with joint problems or injuries. MSM and glucosamine supplements have been studied since the early 1980s. Glucosamine has been found to stimulate cartilage cells which it has the ability to rebuild cartilage lost in the joints due to injury or joint disease. Glucosamine is a small molecule and is easily absorbed and very permeable to cell linings. Glucosamine, a sugar produced in the body and found in small amounts in foods, plays an important role in maintaining cartilage. When taken as a dietary supplement, glucosamine may help to relieve the pain, stiffness, and swelling of osteoarthritis. Just remember glucosamine will make you sick if you are allergic to shellfish. Glucosamine as a dietary supplement comes in many forms, including Glucosamine hcl and sulfate. MSM and glucosamine can be taken together.
Glucosamine and dogs
Dogs of all ages can benefit from taking health supplements in conjunction with their normal food. It seems the main food for dogs is red meat. Red meat is high in uric acid. Uric acid creates arthritic problems in dogs. Glucosamine can help with your dog’s sciatic nerve, inflamed nerves and discs. Glucosamine is very beneficial in the treatment for arthritis and hip Dysplasia in pets.
Glucosamine Side Effects:
There are no known side effects with glucosamine but you should be aware:
1. If you are allergic to shellfish, be careful taking glucosamine. Glucosamine
allergies are caused by proteins in shellfish (not chitin) which is a
carbohydrate from which glucosamine is extracted. Furthermore, there is no
crossover between the acid derived chitin from shells and the antigens that
cause shellfish allergies since the acid process required to leach the chitin
from the shell strips away the carbohydrate side chains that would be antigenic.
In other words, it should be safe for someone with an allergy to iodine or
shellfish to take glucosamine. It is advised that if you have reactions to
glucosamine to consult your physician.
2. Glucosamine sulfate or glucosamine hydrochloride
may increase the risk of developing insulin resistance and could
decrease the metabolic actions of insulin. Although glucosamine and Chondroitin
sulfate are bio-chemically classed as carbohydrates (sugars), the body is not
able to break them down into glucose, so these compounds do not raise blood
sugar by providing an additional source of glucose. However, many factors can
affect insulin secretion and blood glucose levels in diabetic patients, and we
recommend that individuals with diabetes check their blood glucose levels
frequently when initiating glucosamine into their regimen.
3. If you are pregnant you should not take glucosamine products.
4. If you take a lot of glucosamine products you could develop nausea,
diarrhea, gastric problems or heartburn. You should take
Glucosamine with meals.
Glucosamine – Which is better, capsules or liquid?
They say: The absorption rate of glucosamine in pills is less than the glucosamine in liquid form. Pills are not the best way to take glucosamine. Glucosamine provided in liquid form is absorbed more quickly and provides greater and longer lasting relief. If you buy glucosamine make sure it is liquid glucosamine.
Two types of pure MSM are:
OptiMSM with silicon
dioxide
99.9% pure OptiMSM
that contains 0.1% silicon dioxide is added to prevent clumping which is good
for those who take MSM in juice or water. Silicon dioxide will not hurt you or
make you sick. It just makes the msm easy to pour like sugar.
OptiMSM without
additives
99.9% without any
additives is for those who take msm orally either in powder or flake form. Pure
OptiMSM will clump if it does not contain silicon dioxide but is easily broken
apart by mashing it with your fingers. Do not be alarmed if your msm comes
clumpy. Just mash it apart.
